One wonderful things about phones...is taking photos. My phone is a I-16 and it takes fabulous photos, downloads directly to my computer and honestly there is always something good in every photo.
Fall is very late here in N.Illinois, last week we had to take a day trip for doctor's appt and test quite a few miles, and we were stuck in construction and I looked up and this tree took my breath away...a huge old oak of some kind.

As we inched forward I was able to enlarge and catch these Limbs with the rough bark and ages of swirling on the trunks.

Isn't this gorgeous...it looks like it could begin talking and telling us the 120 or so years of history it must know. This part of Northern Illinois was once hardwood forest, and here and there are still pockets of these magnificent oak trees and this one was just off the side of the road. The road is an old one, that goes up into Wisconsin and was probably once an Indian trail, as most old roads were.

I can't wait to use it as a model for some sketching/painting.
On the way home...about 4:30-5:00 pm, I look out the window at these wispy clouds, honestly we hadn't had rain or clouds for maybe 10 days or so...and this appeared as a real anomaly on a clear dry day.

No rain, no mist, but there must have been ice crystals of some sort up in these clouds.

We drove a little farther and I got this shot. You can see the faint rainbow line. I have seen circle rainbows from a plane, but never like this...! I have no idea what that blue dot was, as I couldn't stare into this bright sun, I just took a bunch of pics and was lucky a few were good.

Here's a warning....every part of this plant is poisonous to humans, even skin irritations, and for most animals. I have it growing in a pot ??? It must have come in some dirt we bought. The hot climate change we have has introduced many strange plants. This is POKEWEED___AND POISONOUS. It gets pretty white flowers, so I thought it was just something weird from seeds I had saved.
Make sure you wear gloves and dispose of this in a bag in the garbage, or burn if you can. We have burning restrictions because of the lack of rain, so off it goes tomorrow.

On a lighter note...this is the side step at my friends house. We are watching the house and this shady area is by the hose and gets a drip of water right on the stair treads. With the few dried up leaves and the texture of the cement it makes an awesome Fall photo.
This is a form of Turkey Tail mushrooms. Normally grows in the woods on stumps and dead trees. Supposedly considered a medicinal. I just found it pretty interesting...
So Happy Fall ...you never know where you might find an interesting Photo-OP!
