1950's Party for Barbie---60 years old!

AD-Free Blog
This is definitely OldNewGreenRedo: HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARBIE! 60 years and going strong!

March 9th, 1959, Barbie was first introduced to the world at the toy show, so that is the day we consider her 'debut' or birthday.
The doll club I belong to: Windy City Collectors BDC *Barbie Doll Collectors at http://www.windycitycollectors.org. We have many members not from the Chicago area, so if you are a doll collector or Barbie fan take a peek. Or, you can contact me through this blog if you are interested in joining.

Our theme was Barbie: Old and New.... and we used the Starlite Diner as a backdrop. I was there to help set up. This huge back drop was great for photos.

This is me, in my work clothes for setup.

Here I am in my homemade circle skirt, pink petticoats, and Gramma's vintage pink pearls and earrings. I grabbed one of the many items we used for door prizes. Folding cardboard cars, we had oodles of them and they were all different. I actually won a yellow 57' Chevy convertible.

The backdrop came in three parts. We had some issues getting it to stick up---it was so humid Saturday from constant rain.

We had four raffles of gorgeous outfits.
In the background you can see
the pink, white, black balloons.

A whole table full of door prizes. There were even more than this.

Our tables had dice, balloons and the vintage cars! Our DINER food was excellent: hotdogs, burgers, chicken sandwiches, coleslaw, fries and all the trimmings served buffet style. So, everyone could make their dinner exactly the way they wanted to.

The dice were a hit--
and were just perfect for the festive 50's theme.

The cake was to die for....a lemon soaked sponge cake with raspberry cream cheese frosting...seriously divinely NUMMY!

There were also a few dolls in attendance.

I won this car as a door prize. All members received a pack of jewelry, shoes, pants, and a hand knit gorgeous sweater.

I'm totally going to copy these pants and make some slim ones.

I was the second draw for door prizes...and I picked this 2000 50's Barbie. Look at the lace on her socks. She has jewelry and so many details. I can't wait to take her out of the box. She's been in there for 19 years!!!

Pretty face and subdued makeup---just my style.

The other member gift was the specially designed dresses in white with pink/black 60's on it.This will be a collectors item. Nice purse with it also. A specially designed header on the package with our club's name.

Happy 60th Birthday Barbie!

Many individuals worked hard on all parts of this great party,
 so, SPECIAL THANKS to them.
I didn't include photos of the attendees, because I didn't get releases from everyone, but we sure had FUN!
