Snow, Snow, snow, ...well it's Chicagoland after all.

We simplified this year, because we aren't having tons of company during the holidays.
https://oldnewgreenredoblog.blogspot.com |
It all started with the OLD Christmas tree fence. Snow underneath made the pickets show.
https://oldnewgreenredoblog.blogspot.com |
I loved the tarnished silver snow on top of the pickets.

A favorite pony cavorting in the snow...

Biggest change for our decor this year is not putting up the village in order to simplify. I'm using white candles too. And we kept the white/blue ticking covers on the sofas.
https://oldnewgreenredoblog.blogspot.com |
I kept it very simple.

Earlier in the year, I found this wonderful OLD tin, 1983 with a Currier and Ives (1870) skaters on one side and Mt.Vernon on the other. It's almost perfect for a quick buffet decor.

Add Snow...and old white wooden houses, a few trees and it's a Winter Wonderland.

Another house on the other side.

In front in a Swedish Cheese bell from the 1950's (thick glass) a swan and an ornament. I took five pictures of this, the distortion because of the glass was crazy.

Not putting up the entire village---hubby purchased these adorable NEW Carousel and Ferris wheel from Menards for the grand to play with. they have music and lights and all the horses move. She won't be here that much during the holidays--and two boxes are easier to deal with than the 7 totes of buildings, etc. of the village.

I I kept it simple, with just lights, some Royal Copenhagen porcelain
and vignettes under cheese bells.

A sweet Old porcelain reindeer with vintage ornament in snow.

On the other side is the Ferris wheel, and another cake plate vignette.
I got the NEW cloche for $2.99 at GoodWill? Crazy huh, and it was perfect.
https://oldnewgreenredoblog.blogspot.com |
This OLD cake plate my mom made in the early 60's is pretty chipped up---so I used some doilies and more snow---a Royal Copenhagen porcelain polar bear,
and a couple of New trees from Walmart.

The wooden sparkle houses I've had for maybe 15 years, think they were from TJMax.

Under the buffet, Santa has already arrived.

Our rumpled lived in living room. Snow is in the form of the white pitcher with a spotlight.
I have filled it with holly.

It brightens this corner and casts great shadows on the wall.
Our Fisherman and woman and pieces in Bing&Grondahl, Royal Copenhagen. These are family pieces that our from my grandmother.

I blanketed the tv console in snow--with lights underneath and kept our some of our everyday items out. Photos of our boys, and darling daughter-in-laws are always there. Our winter porcelains, the white weasels, and polar bears are comfortable in the 'snow'.
Simple and Sweet Fridayshttps://oldnewgreenredoblog.blogspot.com |
The silver candlesticks were my grandmothers. Quite old and mysteriously filled with wax underneath for weight? They are from Denmark and hallmarked, which I have to research.
https://oldnewgreenredoblog.blogspot.com |
A cut glass bowl, magnifies the candle light when it's lit. I have used batter candles for the candlesticks...little kids running around not so safe with tippy candles.

It's very pretty at night.

A snow scene etching from Denmark on the wall.
This etching depicted a church not far from my family's home.
Another white wooden house on a patch of snow.

I hope your Christmas is 'White' and full of love and laughter. I swear the toys play under the tree. I have turned that Raggedy around many times.
