Holiday Seasonal Favorite---Peppernuts or whatever your family calls them.
Here my hubby is dilgently rolling and cutting the small bits of dough which become crunchy Pepper Nuts.
It seems tedious, it's usually a packed house with bakers but our family had to bow out this weekend, so we will be baking 'form cookies/cutouts next weekend'. We thought we would get started with some of the doughs already prepared.

Pencil rolls are cut into 1/2" pieces. A little flour keeps the dough from sticking too much. |
Toasting in the oven, we have to turn the trays half way through, our oven is hot in back.
Gently baked until light brown on the bottom.
Our Recipe for Peppernuts this is 1 1/2 recipes or about 6 1/2 Quarts. Bagged these make perfect gifts for friends.

It isn't Christmas unless the Peppernuts are made!
