NOT AD-FREE once a year

NOT AD-FREE once a year

I know I don't promote ads...in fact I find them extremely annoying. Nothing turns me off more than a blog post with 5 photos and a few lines and 30 ads bombarding my sensees, three videos and then ...well I leave.

So treat this post  as informational only.
My Etsy shop lurks over there on the side, and I don't usually even mention it.

But we are approaching the Holiday season where you might be looking for something different, something unique, antique, handmade---just like me---LOL different.

I'm proud to promote my shop

BARBERRYLANE on Etsy

I've made over 800 sale over the years and this month, like many months before, I am a STAR SELLER.
Star Seller means Stellar service with speedy replies, smooth shipping, and Rave Reviews.

So, for this one time,
FOR YOU

I'm promoting this reader's discount for the next two weeks.

Good until NOVEMBER 10

When Life gives you Lemons....

AD-Free Blog.

...Or the best laid plans of mice and a woman...?
source http://hilaryclarcq.com.
It's been nine days since I wrecked my knee, to be exact--tore my medial collateral ligament on my 'good' knee. We are hopeful it will heal, in a month or so. The other knee has already had two knee replacements.

Hence, I have all the gear for being laid up.  See the huge lump on the knee, there, --yep that's still swelling after 8 days.

Some things have changed since my 2010 knee replacements---like available drugs. And, let me mention that TYLENOL does squat, for an inflamed knee, swelling, and sharp(shudder) pain. Since I'm a senior citizen...other medications are no longer acceptable. I have to love my Doc, though, and he has prescribed a muscle relaxer which helps with all the cramping and I have had two decent nights of sleep, finally.

This is my window view---out there is all the Spring yard work, and planting that needs to be done. Poor hubby will really have a work out. I had managed to clean out the front flower bed, plant some perrenials that needed to be split. But, golly---4-6 weeks is a long time in the Spring of the year, to be laid up.

This what my bedroom view looks like---I can't really even get over there...the walker won't fit. Who knew how precious where your underwear drawer should be? The computer is set for an automatic duty---so I just cross my fingers it's working.
The pic on the tv...cracks me up--looks like a mashed up knee.

I've been putting my blogging laptop here, so I can get to it, and then slide it back down safely without having to strain.

Sigh---oh, yea---my blogging. For those viewing my doll blog---barbieoldnewgreenredo, it will be down for at least a few weeks, unless I recycle photos, etc. All my doll and craft supplies/equipment are down in the basement craft room.

My blog-oldnewgreenredo---I might be able to recycle a few photos and post, but, I won't be taking any new photos. (Hubby will do some--he just finished the greenhouse), but none of my Spring projects will be completed. After our awful long winter, we finally have a chance for some nice weather and hopefully I will make it to the porch when it's nice.

I've put my Etsy shop, BarberryLane on Vacation---until I'm able to go to the basement and do the shipping again.

Well, making tons of lemonade here---and I'll post when I have something useful to share! I am enjoying viewing all the wonderful posts of my fellow bloggers.

Vintage Underneath the Christmas Tree:Hi-Yo, Silver!

Now that all the wrapping paper has been picked up, the ribbons retired or saved for a REDO,  and the holidays are winding down, it's time to talk about what was underneath the Christmas Tree.

It's not a secret here, OLD and Vintage anything is prized in this house.
This has extended to my boys.
Underneath the Christmas Tree for my husband was this spectacular gift,
so nostalgic and a great find.
My youngest has become quite the thrifter, and he had this wrapped up from Santa for my hubby.

A copyright 1938 Parker Bros. Lone Ranger Game. Now, if you were a child of the 1950's you remember the TV series. But, the Lone Ranger is older than that, some eighty years he has been urging Silver on with a, "Hi-Yo, Silver," first in radio programs during the 1930's.

Anyway, the entire OLD game is in surprisingly good condition. I do remember playing this when I was a kid---I'm not that old, but I had older boy cousins by 10+ years...who must have had this. Because when I spotted the lttle mounted metal men and the spinners, memories flooded back. As a child of parents who suffered the Depression, taking care of all possesions and saving them was a way of life.

The game's beautiful graphics and all the parts are still intact---even the directions...what a find. My husband was delighted.

The game board is perfect---a bunch of lead weights and plastic pieces included. Designed for 4-6 players, one additional piece is there. I will be on the look out for a green piece I think or perhaps white?.

Here's the copyright down in the corner...1938 Parker Bros. The boys want to play this---and we will have a family game night for sure. The box has some clear tape on it...but who cares, this was a gift from a Son to a Father...what could be better?

Parker Bros., is best known for it's depression game, Monopoly, and the post WWII game, Risk. A great information source on the Parker Bros. game empire is here =110 years of Fun Story of Parker Brothers.

A small sticker is in the lower corner---covers something along the way, in its seventy+years of age.

We had a very merry, merry Christmas here, what OLD Vintage goody was under your tree?

Thanks, for stopping by and I will be happy to answer any questions or comments.

Monday's Wash Day---Old-New-Green-Redo.

Going Green-Monday, or Wash, Pick Tomatoes, Weeding, and Flowers.

Our side patio stretches long and skinny along our fence and flower/vegetable beds.
When we have gorgeous weather like today,
I like to hang out wash, especially bedding and linens.
Wondering what I should post---I thought of this on the tail-end of washday.
Going GREEN saves electricity and the wash smells so good for just a few perks.
And, I loved being outside under the blue sky! Yay!

Besides going GREEN with the wash, we picked and are ripening our tomatoes on the NEW Ikea cabinet, from a previous post. Ripening usually takes 1-3 days, and the tomatoes are safer from our pesky predators and insects that seem to think our garden is a food market, sample station.

The IKEA cabinet from previous post here: Ikea cabinet coffeepot tweak

Of course all the OLD antiques and things on the top had to go to the kitchen table.

Trays of tomatoes, getting their final sweetening.
Some are not perfect as we try to be as GREEN and organic as possible.
The yellow tomatoes are so sweet, the best, and I will can those by themselves.
The minis are getting roasted, directions here: DIY Roasting Tomatoes

The dragonflies on the fence beckoned me to do a bit of weeding. Those are Asian Eggplants to the lower left, and the gray leaves are a huge Kohlrabi,
and are my husband's favorite.
We will be using Kohlrabi as a snack with humus dip soon.
Kohlrabi are a cabbage-like tubers that grow above ground,
and are great raw, fried, or in stews.
I will do a posting soon, when we harvest; they are now baseball size.

So I pulled weeds, all along the fence and pinched my Marigolds.
The Hollyhocks, sadly are in seed stage, and just a few flowers are left here and there.
Still very interesting, and I will wait for the seeds to dry…
and then spread them all along the fence for a REDO, or technically, redux.

So--continuing the going GREEN, I picked flowers, nearly the last of the summer.
Besides weeds, I pulled somethings unintentionally,
which ended up in the floral bouquet for the table.
A few Hosta leaves, the last Tiger Lily…a single white Viburnum blossom
(totally confused bush-usually blooms in spring), some Zinnias,
a Phlox, white and orange Marigolds, Coleus, and Ageratum.
My arrangements are very casual and I make do with whatever is available.

The fresh flowers in Grandmother's OLD blue coffeepot,
the one she burnt a hole in the bottom of, but a glass fits nicely inside, a REDO
Her OLD cookie jar, a NEW apple candle and the NEW Xmas (2015) pig,
that has taken up residence for the year, courtesy of my friend, E.
The OLD fish poacher holds bottles of bubbles and napkins…
essentials for every table, LOL.

Another something OLD, my BarberryLane sign from my old shop,
circa 1999-2009, in Volo, Illinois.
The sign surfaced in our garage excavation and will be a REDO
soon for my Etsy shop, BarberryLane
We are still going through leavings from my parent's house, my closing the shop,
and my own collecting.
Sometime soon, I will shop again in the garage and post, like here: From the Garage

Gramma's OLD Red Wing Monk Cookie Jar. He's really that bright yellow,
and still smells like Danish butter cookies Gramma stored in there.

On this side of the arrangement is Coleus and some purple Ageratum.

So I managed to get
OLD, NEW, GREEN, and REDO, into this post.

And always, Thanks for stopping by, on my Monday-Wash Day.
