Today....for my own peace and for a deep cleansing breath... here's something different.
Leonard Cohen has always been one of my favorite writers and musicians... his words are spun with truth, and vivid word images, and always some sort of meaning for all.
Hallelujah was written during a very low point in his career for the album, Various Positions for Columbia Records. It was given the first spot on side 2, and pretty much ignored. The album eventually made it to America in 1984. Bob Dylan picked up the song and recorded it in 1988 and slowly it has morphed into the American psyche as a perfect song for many occasions.

This all brings to mind another favorite quote of mine of being accepted for who we are:

feeling safe with a person —
having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words,

keep what is worth keeping, and then
with the breath of kindness blow the rest away.”

So take what you can from this music choice for this day...or "with a breath of kindness blow the rest away."

Thanks, Debbie. Certainly is one of my favorites, and they are my favorite...I was going to post one of Leonards, but he sounded like a bull dog, caught in a grinder. I love his earlier 60-70's recordings though. Hugs, Sandi
DeleteThank you for this post, Sandi. It is so easy for me to get caught up in the "nasty" although I never forget the good. I enjoyed the singing of Hallelujah at the night The President and Vice-President honored the dead from the Covid virus. It is a beautiful song in more ways than one and I absolutely love it. It has taken over my "humming" from the Christmas carols. I also love the quote you used. "The feeling safe with a person" is a great comfort now..Stay well..xxoJudy
