Our Pond under the Kitchen Window
The windows are open in the kitchen as much as the weather allows,
and we just love the soft
sound of the water.
It's peaceful, serene and background
for all the chirping
birds.
This year we added a Spathiphyllum,
Water Iris, and Papyrus as pond plants, which are so-far-so-good.
Our fisher people are a little concrete girl and boy…holding old cane poles,
the fountain is a fish of course.
The rocks surrounding the pond and making the bench are from my sister-in-law's in Door County, Wisconsin. I was a cheesehead, ya know.
Black-eyed Susans and an exuberant Phlox are the main flowers right now.
My pots have Coleus and a Hibiscus in bright orange.
The planters to the right hold the usual Petunias, Geraniums and Marigolds,
and Lime Potato Vine, protected by a frog on his own lilypad.
The Del Oro Gold Lilies pooped out with the hot weather.
Behind the planter wall, is a rustic frog lurking in the Canterbury Bells
which apparently needs a spritz of paint …to show.

Beautiful Sandi! I too love the sound of running water. We have a pondless waterfall out back and hear it from our bedroom window. It really is a soothing sound. Hubby and I visited Door County 4 or 5 years ago. Oh my, loved everything about it and want to go back some day. Your flowers are beautiful!

I laughed when I read your bio about being a retired artist. My husband is an artist and he talks about being retired now. He doesn't paint nearly as much as he used to before I retired. Fortunately, he has a reputation and he still sells 1 or 2 paintings a month.
I was a potter in my other life, and eventually my hands, back and knees wore out…pottery is heavy, lol. Kudos to your husband to still work at it. Doing the shows is what killed me. Thanks for stopping by, Sandi

Oh I Love a little Private Pond... my Nanna had one in her Garden in North Wales with Koi in it and I was mesmerized as a Child and Imaginings of all sorts took form beside that little Pond. Alas, here in the AZ Desert the water gets too Hot and evaporates too quickly to have much of a little Pondscape... you have to go large to have it Work here... but I sure do Love seeing the Ponds Shared here in The Land of Blog in climates where it works better. Dawn... The Bohemian
