Tulip Teatime

We Have Sun Today, YAY!
So I quick took some photos of a tulip inspired teatime.
All the easter projects are off the table long enough to be civilized.

Nothing matches in my home, except my formal porcelain dishes which we use for holidays.
Everything else is informal, mix and match.

The lazy-suzan has an assortment of tulip inspired ceramics and my grandmother's coffee pot, which is Scandinavian Blue enamel on metal.  The old doily---was just such a great color, I had to pick it up for a pittance. The unusual crocus pot with the figures on the corner is marked Made in Japan.

The maid in the middle is actually a porcelain bell, marked Czechslovakia and was my mom's. The salt and pepper are one of many styles of this mold marked Made in Japan. These have a lot of detail, possibly from before WWII. Grandmother had these on her kitchen window sill.

The teapot is vintage unmarked porcelain with a metal handle.
I love it, and it really keeps water hot, if primed.

The vintage windmill sugar and creamer are marked Made in Japan,
I have had them for a long time.

My everyday dishes are a mishmash of old and new. The Saucer is for-a-glass saucer,
pottery marked Booths, Made in England, pattern is Peony. Booths produced pottery from 1891 through the 1980s with many changes in ownership. Some say these pieces date from the 1950's.
I just pick up anything I like in blue and white to really use.

My grandmother bought her way through Europe in the 1950s. This shoe is marked hand painted Delft /Blauw. So I'm dating this 1950's. Tons of this was made for the 'Grand Tour' tourist trade. Makes a handy tea bag holder here.

Just to pop this a bit, in my now white with red kitchen, is the outdoor tablecloth from last year by Nicole Miller Home. I snagged this for $12.00 at HomeGoods,
and bought it for the yardage it's 70x120. This was before the red was planned for the kitchen.
I finally in the end, couldn't live with all white.

For a red pop, I used my April Cornell Provencal Red napkins. That delicious nibbles on the plate, (Churchill) again, are Chocolate Pizzelles.

Looking for something low calorie with no artificial sweeteners?
These tasty cookies are only 23 calories each.
I might try serving these with some fresh strawberries
and a bit of greek yogurt later in the season.
They come in several flavors.

Faux red tulips finish the table. Sigh---this is the first sunshine we have had in a week. Going out to get fresh tulips in 50-60 mph winds wasn't my idea of fun, so these will work until next week.
I think maybe we had 5 days sun in March and now today.
 YAY!
We were supposed to get snow, but it blew so hard it never landed---sorry Indiana and Michigan.
Now on to SPRING~PLEASE!

Happy Tulip Teatime.

  4. Your blue and whites and Dutch decor are charming. There is a wonderful Dutch shop located 1 hour away from me that has an amazing selection of Dutch teas (e.g., Pickwick).

    1. Hmm, that would be lovely. I just switched out the tulips for fresh daffodils from the yard, (before they get beaten down further, we had hail). And I think that will just stay until Easter Sunday. Thanks for stopping by, and I love pickwick tea, which I usually buy loose. But that's another post, lol, Sandi

    1. I just popped a bunch of garden daffodils into a pot and set the tulips to the side. The yellow works wonderfully. (we have had hail and pounding rain) The poor smiley faced Daffies were lying in the dirt. Grins, thanks for stopping by, Sandi

  9. Hi Sandi, you have such an incredible collection. I love your style and the way you pull your beautiful looks together with mix and match. I love blue and white and have so much of it inherited from my grandma and mother. I will be changing things up with it for spring and summer after Easter.
Love seeing your chocolate Pizzelle's. I make them in the vanilla and have an iron from Italy to create them.
Thank you for sharing and the beautiful history that goes with your treasures. Have a special Easter week. xo

  10. Hi Sandi, thanks for leaving a comment on my blog! Sorry that it took me so long to return the visit, but I am so glad that I finally got around to do it.
I love your blue and white china. You really have collected some nice pieces and I like to read the stories behind each one.
The Chocolate Pizzelles are new to me, they look very tempting. I will see if I can find them locally.
Wishing you lot of sun in Chicago!

    1. Ah, the first bite is a bit like a communion wafer, and then the flavor melts in your mouth and you can't wait to take another bite of the Pizzelle. It's nice to have a artificial sweetener free treat. Thanks for visiting, Sandi

  12. What lovely treasures! I was especially moved by the little salt and pepper shakers. My grandmother collection salt and pepper shakers. All of us grandchildren were allowed to play with the ones that were not glass. Thanks so much for sharing your memories and your treasures at Celebrate Your Story!

    1. The salt shakers are special. When I was maybe 8, my grandmother asked me what I would want of hers, someday. I said the Dutchboy/girl shakers and a large figurine of Hans Christian Andersen reading to children. She had many beautiful things, which I inherited through my mom, but those two are still so precious. Thanks for visiting, Sandi
